Semester Reflection
After reviewing the semester there were many mild stones that I had to overcome. I registered for this course expecting it to be the same as English 1101, but I quickly realized that was not the case. Over the course of this semester the part I dreaded the most, was having to do the online portfolio. Due to the fact that the portfolio is a major portion of our grade I did my best. Looking throughout the things I submitted I deserving nothing less than an A. I edited all my papers by made the corresponding correction.
My favorite essay was the human interest essay, because it was relevant to current issues in today’s society. The essays themselves were not that difficult, but however the grading criterion was stricter than I expected. I was in complete favor of the peer reviews and the conferences, because it gave an insight on what my papers lacked and needed improvement on. When writing the research paper the researched I had already done through the wiki’s helped me drastically. The ghost grades helped me the most because it gave me a chance to see what my grade would have been without editing it.
The magazine left me a little befuddle, I failed to understand the purpose of the magazine, until things were switched in class. Until the assignment was changed and made into a class project, things were really hard. Time management played the most important part role, when trying to work out side class. Getting everyone together so we can work out the problems made it hard to work on the project, because some people took the project serious and others did not. This was only five percent of my grade so there for it should not influence my final grade.
At the beginning of the semester I was asked about my web presence and I thought I was quite knowledgeable. Actually I did not know nearly as many things as I do now, such as how to create an online magazine. As the semester advanced, new things were instilled in me; like how to make an online portfolio, and the proper way to cite a paper. The improvements I have made in this course should justify why I deserve at least a B. I came into this course thinking that I knew everything, because I had taken English 1101 first semester. I constantly kept thinking how much more different could English 1101 be, compared to English 1102, and I was taught so much more than I ever expected.
After taking English 1102, I feel as though I am very well prepared for my next English class. Now that I know the proper way to write, my grammar has improved as well. I am a lot more confident when speaking to an employer, because after having to edit my paper I am able to pick up on errors I repeatedly made. After all of the things I have learned and the improvement made in my papers I feel I deserve nothing less than a B. Even though I only took this course because it was required, I would suggest it to anyone.
